Lake Cleaning Drive at Ameenpur Lake

On November 23rd, 2025, the Rotaract Club of Hyderabad Himayathnagar (RACHH) organized a meaningful Lake Cleaning Drive at Ameenpur Lake, India’s first designated Biodiversity Heritage Site, in proud collaboration with the ENY Foundation and NalaLand Biker’s Group. Starting bright and early at 7:00 AM, 14 dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves to protect this precious ecosystem that shelters over 200 bird species and rare aquatic life.

Armed with gloves, gunny bags, and fueled by determination, the team combed the lake’s banks for hours, tackling plastic bottles, single-use packaging, food wrappers, discarded fishing nets, and other non-biodegradable waste that threatens both wildlife and water quality. By the end of the drive, a staggering 90 kilograms of trash had been collected, segregated, and handed over for proper disposal and recycling, a powerful reminder of how small, collective actions can create big environmental impact.

The morning buzzed with energy. Laughter echoed as volunteers raced to fill bags, stories were swapped during short water breaks, and every piece of litter removed felt like a personal victory for the planet. Bikers from NalaLand brought infectious enthusiasm, while ENY Foundation’s guidance ensured systematic execution and waste segregation.

This initiative perfectly embodied Rotaract’s Avenue of Community Service and environmental responsibility within District 3150. By safeguarding Ameenpur Lake, RACHH not only contributed to biodiversity conservation but also inspired volunteers to become lifelong stewards of nature. One lake, 14 volunteers, 90 kg lighter—proof that when young leaders unite, real change ripples far beyond the shoreline.

Together, the Rotaractors reaffirm their commitment to creating sustainable, vibrant communities for generations to come.
