The objective of this project was to address menstrual hygiene challenges faced by underprivileged adolescent girls by ensuring access to safe, hygienic, and eco-friendly sanitary products. The initiative aimed to prevent health complications, promote dignity and confidence, reduce stigma around menstruation, and encourage sustainable menstrual practices while supporting girls’ education and well-being.
Execution
The project was executed at Vaidehi Seva Samithi after identifying genuine beneficiaries in coordination with the institution. Rotaractors distributed biodegradable sanitary pads sufficient for two months to 66 students and conducted interactive awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, safe usage, and proper disposal, ensuring privacy, sensitivity, and respectful engagement throughout the activity.
Impact
The project immediately reduced health risks caused by unhygienic menstrual practices and improved confidence among beneficiaries. Phase 1 achieved 33% of the larger target of supporting 200 girls, laying a scalable foundation for long-term menstrual health intervention.
