Silver Strides – phase 1 day 2

Silver Strides is a Professional Development Programme designed to sensitize future healthcare professionals to the health challenges faced by the geriatric population 👵👴. The initiative focuses on common age-related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, liver diseases, kidney disorders, joint problems, and other chronic illnesses 🩺.

Phase 1 of Silver Strides was initially conducted at Shirdi Sai Niveditha Old Age Home. Due to logistical constraints and distance, the programme was later shifted to Fatima Old Age Home, Falaknama 📍. Despite the change in location, the core intention remained unchanged—providing meaningful health education and care to the elderly with empathy and responsibility ❤️.

On Phase 1, Day 2, the focus topic was Diabetes Mellitus, a highly prevalent condition among older adults 🩸. The session covered awareness regarding symptoms, complications, dietary habits, lifestyle modifications, and the importance of regular blood glucose monitoring. Special emphasis was given to hands-on training, where the residents were taught how to use a glucometer and Accu-Chek machine to monitor their blood sugar levels independently, empowering them in daily disease management 💉📊. The interactive session benefited around 40 elderly residents, who actively participated and clarified their doubts 🙌.

Overall, Silver Strides offered valuable professional exposure while reinforcing compassion, communication skills, and ethical medical practice 🌟. More Photos https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rm_gGjIZumskWjhNu2ueJ-i3KYhGcmUi
