The Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East participated in the Brainstorming Session on Decentralised / Community-Level Wet Waste Management, organized by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as part of Swachh Survekshan, on 27th January 2026, at Taj Mahal Hotel, Abids, Hyderabad.
This was our first time as a club attending a policy- and solution-driven sustainability forum of this scale. The session was attended by GHMC management officials, policy makers, enablers, startups, NGOs, RWAs, and community groups from across the city, making it highly interactive and insightful.
We gained valuable insights into GHMC’s wet waste management initiatives, the challenges at the community level, and the importance of decentralised, scalable solutions that focus on long-term behavioural change rather than one-time clean-up drives.
The event also helped us build meaningful connections, opening possibilities for future sustainability-focused service projects and collaborations. It marked an important step in expanding our club’s approach to community service and environmental responsibility.
A total of 5 members from our club participated in the session. We look forward to engaging in more such initiatives that encourage learning, collaboration, and lasting impact. More Photos https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XgUXdWg5561y_QAKlxMPPdeh4IgOx4o5
